March 10, 2021I hold the original Phantasy Star Online games for Dreamcast very close to my heart.
I can still remember the excitement of dialing up to connect to Sega Net and being blown away at how fun and playable online sessions over 56k could be.
At the time, online console gaming was almost non-existent, but for the first time I was talking and battling with random people over the internet in this cooperative sci-fi multiplayer RPG with my Dreamcast controller.
While both PSO Episode 1 & 2 had no hopes of being able to save the Dreamcast from its untimely demise, it didn’t stop Sonic Team from delivering an absolute synth and symphonic masterpiece. With unique blends of techno, funk and orchestral layers that truly add to the Japanese sci-fi feel and atmosphere.
